Leander, Texas
Leander is northwest of Austin, on the western edge of the metro — the Hill Country starts here. The town has grown fast in the last fifteen years, but the bones are still small-town: a downtown a few blocks long, a high school football stadium that fills on Friday nights, and a backdrop of cedar-and-oak hills running west toward Lake Travis.
The pull is location. Lake Travis is fifteen minutes away — the marinas at Volente and Hudson Bend, the cliffs at Pace Bend, the sunset spot at The Oasis. Cedar Park is next door for groceries and errands. Downtown Austin is 35 minutes south on Capital MetroRail or US-183.
Leander itself is family-heavy and quietly growing into its own. Crystal Falls golf course, Devine Lake Park, Brushy Creek Lake Park, and a set of newer neighborhoods that mix builder homes with older ranches. It's a base for guests who want Austin in reach but not on top of them, and Hill Country at the end of the driveway.
