Point Venture, Texas
Point Venture is a gated lakeside community perched on the western shore of Lake Travis, 35 miles northwest of Austin. The entire town is essentially on a peninsula — surrounded on three sides by Lake Travis, backed by Hill Country cedar and oak. It's quiet in the way that lake communities go quiet, and the water is the reason everyone is here.
Lake Travis is 65 miles long and cuts through limestone Hill Country bluffs. Point Venture sits at one of the wider stretches — deep, clear, and best by boat. The marina at Point Venture has slips for most stays, and Captain Pete's Boathouse floats at the end of the pier, serving tacos and draft beer with lake views that are better than most restaurants will ever manage.
Lago Vista is next door, Flat Creek Estate Winery is 30 minutes into the Hill Country, and downtown Austin is 50 minutes east on 183. Most guests spend most of their time on or near the water and don't feel like they're missing anything.
