Palomino Coffee: East Austin's Neighborhood Coffee Shop Done Right

East Austin has a coffee culture that's distinct from the rest of the city — a little more neighborhood-first, a little less about being seen. Palomino Coffee on E 12th Street fits that perfectly.
What Palomino Is
Palomino is a Texas coffee shop and marketplace at 4136 E 12th St, close to where E 12th meets the Springdale and Webberville corridors that define the East Side's creative core. The menu changes seasonally — right now they're running a Giddy Up (house-made cherry vanilla syrup, espresso, tonic water over ice) alongside the usual espresso program — and the artisanal goods on the marketplace side rotate through locally made products. It's the kind of shop that gives you a reason to come back every few months just to see what's new.
The Coffee
The espresso program is solid and approachable. Drip, au lait, cold brew, cortado, Americano — they do the classics cleanly and the seasonal specials with actual creativity. The Sunriser Coffee Club does subscriptions for people who want their beans delivered, which tells you something about the community they've built around the place.
A Genuine Neighborhood Anchor
Palomino feels like it belongs to the neighborhood in the way that the best coffee shops do — not a brand that dropped into an up-and-coming area, but something that grew from it. If you're staying at our East Austin property, this is your morning stop. It's close, it's good, and it's the kind of place that will make East Austin feel like your neighborhood for the duration of your trip.
